The day has finally arrived to launch Beer Suggest. Beer Suggest is a semi-private beta website. When I say semi-private, I am referring to the fact that you can view most of the website, but all of the social/wiki features are disabled.

So why a website about beer? Aren't there a bunch out there already? Yes, there are many other sites that are in some ways similar to Beer Suggest, however out of all of the sites I checked out, I couldn't find one that had all of the features I wanted. So I decided to start Beer Suggest. The idea is to not only have a large categorized database of beers and breweries, but to have a large community of beer lovers who can share their opinions and give insight to all of the beer in the database. What's data without context? There are a lot of nice features like netflix style beer rating, beer reviews, and tagging like many other sites. But here there is also a great focus on the social part of beer. When you register you can gather stats about your beer drinking repertoire and share them with your friends, as well as view your friends stats.

So to all of the beta users I ask you to do as many things as you can on the website and report any bugs that you may find, because let's face it, as a developer it's extremely difficult to test your own product. You wrote it so you know exactly what data the system expects. I'd also like to hear your input on what you like, and what you don't like about the current state of Beer Suggest. If you have ideas for feature enhancements, let me know that too! The more feedback I can get, the better I can make Beer Suggest. As a beta user I've also given you the ability to invite other friends who you think would enjoy this site. The more beer enthusiasts the better ! You can find the area to invite friends on your profile page. I am hopeful that I will receive a lot useful feedback/bug reports to make Beer Suggest a more stable and feature rich website.
