Description:
This is our 4th Dementia Olde Ale that has been bourbon barrel aged. This ale has an intense sweet caramel malt flavor and aroma that develops into a toffee/toasted marsh mellow like character.

Appearance - 4.0
Pours dark, caramel brown with some light coming through. There is barely any head, a small tan ring is all that is produced.
Aroma - 5.0
The aroma is perfect. It's a perfect blend of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and malt sweetness. The bourbon character isn't at all overpowering. The base beer marries perfectly with the bourbon.
Mouthfeel - 5.0
Full in body and very lightly carbonated. It's perfect for this style, any more carbonation would distract from the beer. Slightly syrupy, but nothing unexpected for the style.
Taste - 5.0
Sweet caramel flavors come first along with some brown sugar. Vanilla notes and a mellow bourbon character with some alcohol heat follow. More caramel shows up in the finish.
Overall - 5.0
Wow, this beer went from "meh I'd maybe like to try it", to "Yes, get some more" upon the first sip. This beer has a lot of depth and has several phases of flavors. Well worth seeking out.
