Description:
There are many storms out there, all of them perfect in their own way. But there is only one Mother of all Storms and it only happens in Pacific City, Oregon. Based on Stormwatcher’s Winterfest, our English-style barleywine, Mother of all Storms spent many months aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Now at its peak, Mother of all Storms delivers deep flavors of toasted malt, bourbon and oak. The finish rewards with whispers of vanilla, toffee and caramel. Best enjoyed with gusts exceeding 60 mph.

Appearance - 4.5
2011 vintage. Pours an inch of tan head into a tulip glass. The head fizzles away quickly with little to no lace. The beer has a dark licorice color to it, a combination of blacks and browns.
Aroma - 4.5
The nose is a wonderful mix of bourbon, vanilla, and sweet malts. The alcohol isn't too in your face which is surprising for the abv content of this beer.
Mouthfeel - 4.5
Full in body with mild carbonation. There is a bit of a syrupy feel which isn't at all surprising for the style and abv.
Taste - 5.0
Big sweet malts greet the taste buds first. It's followed by toffee, and hints of dark fruit. Vanilla and bourbon shows up next in just the right amounts. It finishes with oak tannins and a smooth alcohol burn.
Overall - 5.0
Masterly crafted. It has just the right amount of barrel flavor without being overwhelmingly alcoholic. Perfect brew for this Christmas eve.
