Appearance - 4.5
Pours a medium brown with ruby highlights when held to the light. It produces an inch of tan head that has very nice retention and leaves plenty of sticky lace.
Aroma - 4.5
The aroma kicks off with a nice roasty coffee smell followed up by some sweetness and nuttiness. It's a very well rounded nose.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Has a crisp finish.
Taste - 4.0
A little bit of malt sweetness up front followed by some fruity and roasty coffee notes. The nuttiness kicks in next with a little bit more of the roasted coffee hanging on into the finish.
Overall - 4.5
The coffee flavor in this beer compliments the base beer, Bender, very well. It never overpowers the normal Bender flavor. Very well made and worth seeking out. Surly has yet to let me down.
