On tap at the brewpub. This beer produces a big 1 1/2 inch sticky white head. The retention is good and it leaves plenty of lacing. The beer looks amazing. It's clear with a deep ruby red hue.

Aroma - 3.5

The aroma consists of strong pine and caramel notes.

Mouthfeel - 4.0

Medium in body with good carbonation. Slightly oily with a warming alcohol presence.

Taste - 3.5

It's got a big caramel malt backbone which holds up throughout the taste. There are big citrus and pine flavors contributed by the hops. Alcohol rears it's head toward the finish. Speaking of the finish, it has a medium-high bitterness that lingers after each swallow.

Overall - 3.5

This is a big beer, for sure. It's very good, but a little too bitter and the alcohol isn't hidden as much as I'd like. If you get a chance to check out the brewpub and you enjoy big bold beers, give this one a try.
