Description:
A Double IPA brewed in memory of the brew cat. In honor of Mongo, Mike Rodriguez made his first Double IPA, as he loved the cat and wanted to honor him with this beer. This 8.5% abv beer was made with Columbus hops (Mongo’s Birthname), Cascade for the Mama cat, and Simocoe because that is Mike’s favorite hop.

very well balanced. Enough malt and mouthfeel to make it different and truly drinkable, even for the "not so hop head". What I truly enjoy in a DIPA is a well balanced, and sophistcated profile... and this one has it. A new, unsung favorite.

Had this on tap, served into a tulip. It pours an inch of creamy white head. It's got great retention and leaves tons of lacing. The beer is a very hazy deep orange with golden highlights.
Aroma - 5.0
A huge, aromatic nose. Lots of hops generate mango, orange, and citrus.
Mouthfeel - 5.0
Medium-full in body with moderate carbonation. It's got a some what creamy feel despite the hops oils coating your mouth.
Taste - 4.5
A slight caramel malt up front followed by a hop blast. It begins with citrus than fades into orange followed by a bitter grapefruit finish. There's a slight alcohol burn as it goes down.
Overall - 4.5
This is a very nice DIPA. It's got a flavor profile that is different enough to make it stand out among the other DIPAs that Port has put out.
