Appearance - 5.0
Poured into my tulip this beer produced a nice 1 inch dark tan head. It has great retention and leaves some very nice lacing. It's got a pitch black appearance.
Aroma - 4.5
It's got a very pleasant aroma. There is a little bit of smoke, dark roasted malts and blueberry notes. The blueberry aroma makes itself noticeable but isn't overwhelming. The aromas meld together very well.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
Medium-full in body, nicely carbonated, and a little bit of creaminess.
Taste - 4.0
The taste is similar to the nose with the exception of small sweet taste up front. It's quickly followed by the dark roasted malts and a bit of smoke. The blueberry flavor is much less prominent in the taste than the nose. It is present in the background through most of the taste. Some hops provide a nice complementing bitterness in the finish.
Overall - 4.5
My buddy and I had a hard time believing this beer was only 4.5% abv. I have just never had a stout that was so flavorful and aromatic with such a low alcohol content. This is a very nice beer, I've been pleased with the 3 of the 5 I have tried that came out of this stout series.
