Appearance - 4.5
Was fortunate enough to try this on tap at 2 locations. It pours a clear light golden orange color. It creates a nice sized white head that has good retention and leaves plenty of lacing.
Aroma - 4.5
The aroma is slightly sweet combined with a nice dose of citrusy, tropical, and flowery hops.
Mouthfeel - 4.5
Excellent carbonation and medium in body.
Taste - 4.5
After taking the first sip I realize this is a somewhat different beast when compared to their Racer 5. It's nice and hoppy, but much more balanced with sweet malts, which is atypical for a DIPA. There's a nice fruity character involving grapefruit, orange, and pineapple. It's counterbalanced by a pleasantly sweet caramel malt. It finishes bitter but much less so than the Racer 5.
Overall - 4.5
A impressively balanced DIPA. Tons of hop flavor that's kept in check by the sweet malts. A very delicious brew.
