Blackout Stout

Appearance - 4.5

Poured into a tulip it produces a 1 inch medium tan head. It has decent retention a small ring of lace. The beer is very dark, almost pitch black.

Aroma - 4.0

It has a nice pleasant roasty aroma with a good bit of coffee present and a very subtle chocolate presence.

Mouthfeel - 4.5

Full in body with a nice creaminess. The carbonation is pretty spot on for the style.

Taste - 4.0

Roasted malts up front followed by some chocolate in the middle. The coffee flavor kicks in next with a small bitterness that lingers into the finish. There is a warming alcohol presence in the finish, but without too much alcohol taste.

Overall - 4.0

A very well made imperial stout. The flavors meld together well. This version is great so I'm very interested in trying the barrel aged version.
