Pours a huge 3+ finger head when poured into my tulip. The head is off-white and has great retention. Additionally it leaves plenty of smudges of lace. The beer is a medium golden-orange and clear with visible carbonation bubbles.
Aroma - 5.0
The aroma is very powerful and can be smelled immediately. I get pear, apricot and pleasant sour notes. I've never head guava but the sour notes most likely are coming from the fruit. Wikipedia confirms my suspicions.
Mouthfeel - 4.5
Light-medium in body with sharp, prickly carbonation.
Taste - 5.0
The guava fruit pairs extremely well with the Belgian yeast. The first sip provides a little bit of tropical fruit followed by banana from the yeast character. Then some lemon flavors are introduced with a slightly sour taste that blends with the rest of the flavors.
Overall - 5.0
An excellent Saison. The guava fruit complements the Belgian yeast perfectly. I can imagine a lot of my non-beer drinking friends and family thoroughly enjoying this. Very delicious and refreshing. I'd highly recommend picking this up if it's in your distribution.
