Boss Hog Double IPA

Appearance - 4.5

Poured 1 1/2 fingers of white head with a nice retention. It left spider web lacing as the beer level dropped. The beer was clear and had an orange/copper color.

Aroma - 3.5

A nice citrus/tropical fruit aroma mixed in with some bready malts. It was a good nose, but I wish it were a bit more potent.

Mouthfeel - 4.0

Medium in body with moderate carbonation.

Taste - 4.0

Pale malts up front with some breadiness and a bit of caramel. That's followed up by the citrus/tropical fruit flavor from the hops. Ends with a nice bitterness. A pretty clean taste overall. One of the best attributes of this beer is how well it hides the 10% alcohol. It was almost unnoticeable in the taste.

Overall - 4.0

This was a great beer. It surprised me since I find most of their beer mediocre. I think they need to do more experimentation and make some more one-off brews like this. Despite the high abv I drank 2 of these and they went down very nicely. A very approachable beer.
