Appearance - 4.0
Pours 1 finger of dark brown head that has a nice retention, but leaves little lacing. The beer is opaque and looks like oil, nearly black, but not quite.
Aroma - 4.0
The first thing that I noticed about the aroma was the black coffee smell. There's also chocolate and a general malt sweetness present.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Medium to full in body, in my opinion it was a little light in the mouth feel. Good carbonation and somewhat creamy and smooth.
Taste - 4.5
Dark roasted malts and coffee dominate the taste. It's complemented by some chocolate and a bit of vanilla. The alcohol is hidden surprisingly well.
Overall - 4.5
A nice one by Terrapin, but it lacks a little in the complexity. Don't get me wrong, it's good and I'd try it again, but it was missing something to make it really outstanding.
