Description:
Our Big A IPA has earned its share of praise over the last few years. In 2004 the New York Times named it its top IPA , and in 2007 Mens Journal Magazine included it on its list of 25 best beers in America. The last of each year's edition typically leaves our warehouse around mid-May, and, as always, it doesn't last long.
Stash Wojciechowski, the “Killer Kielbasa,” created this bonafide India Pale Ale recipe exclusively for the Smuttynose Big Beer Series.

Appearance - 4.5
Pours an inch of fluffy white head that has a great retention and clings to the inside of the glass. The beer is a light copper/orange color with a slight haziness to it.
Aroma - 4.0
A nice potent aroma. Lots of citrus, pine and grapefruit mixed in with a little bit of malt sweetness.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Medium in body with a ton of hops oil in the mouth feel. Lightly carbonated. Finishes dry.
Taste - 4.0
A little bit of sweet malt followed by a biscuit like taste. Then you are barraged by citrus, pine and grapefruit similar to the nose. It finishes with a bold bitter taste with hints of alcohol.
Overall - 4.0
An excellent DIPA. A lot of resin from the hops so this will coat your pallet for some time. I'd certainly try it again.
