Appearance - 4.0
Pours about 1/2 an inch of off-white head that fades into a nice ring. The beer is clear and has a reddish brown look with lots of ruby highlights when held to the light.
Aroma - 3.5
You can definitely smell the yeast strain from the mad elf on the nose. Theirs a good amount of dark fruit, particularly plum present.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
Medium in body with a syrupy feel and nice carbonation.
Taste - 3.5
You can taste a little bit of the malty Troegenator in the taste, but it's the mad elf yeast that stands out the most. Towards the middle comes the dark fruit followed by a tiny bit of alcohol. It finishes with some hops a residual sweetness on the tip of your tongue.
Overall - 3.5
An interesting mix. The typical Belgian flavors work well with the Troegenator base. Although I'd personally prefer the Troegenator over this brew.
