Depth Charge is the second in the series of one-time releases between the two breweries. Be wary of the calm before the storm. Appearance - 3.5

The beer pours 1/2 inch of dark tan head that fades pretty quickly and leaves a small ring of lace. The beer is pitch black.

Aroma - 4.0

Heavy roasted coffee beans in the nose. You can just barley make out some sweet malts in the background. Any coffee lover would enjoy this aroma.

Mouthfeel - 3.5

Medium in body with a somewhat smooth feeling to it. It may have just a tad too much carbonation.

Taste - 3.5

A lot of coffee flavor going on, but the lactose helps balance it out. There is also light chocolate that can just barley be made out. It finishes dry with roasted coffee beans dominating the aftertaste.

Overall - 4.0

Definitely a coffee forward beer. If you don't like coffee you may want to pass on this one, since it outweighs the sweet malts and the milk sweetness.
