Description:
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU.

Appearance - 5.0
The beer is a brilliant, dark, ruby red. It accumulates about an inch of tannish head that has great retention and is extremely, sticky leaving plenty of lacing.
Aroma - 5.0
Wow, what a pungent nose. It just reeks of hops. Lots of piny hops, mixed in with citrus and small amount of malt sweetness. Of course the malt is overpowered in the aroma, but it's present. This beer smells great!
Mouthfeel - 4.0
A full-bodied beer with moderate carbonation. There are a ton of slick hops on the tongue leaving a slick, oily feel. The hops dry the mouth up.
Taste - 5.0
This is definitely a hop bomb. Tons of pine and grapefruit in the taste. Despite the massive amount of hops, there's a fairly large malt presence too. Sweet caramel stands out and helps even out the taste. It finishes nice and bitter, like you would expect from a beer as hoppy as this. It leaves a nice warming feeling as it settles in your body. The alcohol really isn't noticable though.
Overall - 5.0
This is absolutely delicious concoction. If you love hops, there is no way you can pass up this limited release. Run to your local beer store and grab some bombers today! If you are lucky, Stone is also distributing a limited amount of this bad boy on draft.
