Goose Island Imperial IPA

Appearance - 4.5

Tried this at the brewpub in Clybourne. It pours 1 finger of off-white head the doesn't stick around too long, but leaves some nice lacing. The beer is a hazy golden orange.

Aroma - 3.0

Not a whole lot on the nose, some sweet caramel malt and some citrus. There are also hints of apricots. The citrus dominates the aroma.

Mouthfeel - 3.5

A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.

Taste - 3.5

Not as hoppy as I expected. The malt backbone takes precedence. It has a good amount of citrus and floral hops in the finish with a slight bitterness. I personally thought the alcohol flavor stood out a little too much in the aftertaste.

Overall - 3.5

A pretty good IPA, I think if the aftertaste didn't have as much of an alcohol flavor I would have enjoyed it a bit more. It was also a bit expensive, $10 for a 12 oz chalice.
