Wild Devil Ale

Appearance - 4.0

Pours 1 1/2 fingers of slightly off-white head. The head recedes at an average pace leaving some spotty lacing. The beer itself is darker then you would expect for an IPA. More of a dark orange/red.

Aroma - 3.5

Some citrus and pine from the hops, as well as a bready malt show up in the nose. Also making an appearance is a slightly fruity funky smell, definitely from the Brett.

Mouthfeel - 3.5

Medium in body and crisp. It's got medium carbonation and finishes on the dry side.

Taste - 4.0

This does have a different flavor from the Hop Devil. It's more subdued in the hops. It starts out much like hop devil with a nice does of citrus and pine. That's about where Hop Devil and Wild Devil divulge. The beer then has a tangy/sour flavor that is not overpowering. It blends nicely with some bready malts and leaves a slightly bitter/funky aftertaste.

Overall - 4.0

I think I enjoy this version more than Hop Devil. I love me an IPA, but this is less extreme in the bitterness department. Very easy to drink and worth checking out.
