Appearance - 4.5
Pours a massive 3 fingers of thick off-white head into a chalice. The head has great retention and leaves some decent lacing. The beer is a hazy golden orange color with limited visibility.
Aroma - 4.0
It has an interesting aroma. At first waft the belgian yeast made up the majority of the aroma. After taking another sniff some bitter, piney hops make themselves apparent. Then finally the aroma converges and you get a cross between the trippel and a hoppy brew. So far the label's text is spot on.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
A medium bodied beer with a slick feel from the hops oil. It has a pretty dry finishes from the scorching hops. No complaints in the carbonation department, pretty spot on.
Taste - 4.0
The trippel flavors hit first, with the Belgian yeast, and some spices taking over the middle. Then the hops take over, and it is quite the hoppy beer. It has a pretty nice bitter finish with the trippel flavors showing up again in the aftertaste.
Overall - 4.5
It's a great mix of the Belgian-style triple and a west coast IPA. The combination has a good balance, and is certainly worth picking up, even if it's a little expensive here on the east coast.
