Appearance - 4.5
Pours about 1 finger of tan head that slowly fades and leaves some thin lacing. The beer is a deep brown, may as well call it black. It's slightly opaque when held to the light.
Aroma - 3.0
Some coffee and roasted malts, but for the most part there isn't much nose on this one. I was a little let down by the lack of a powerful aroma like their other Blackwater beers.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
A full bodied brew that's lightly carbonated. It's got a smooth syrupy feel to it.
Taste - 3.5
A little bit of dark chocolate mixed with some coffee. The coffee flavor dominates most of the beer and finishes with a slight sweetness. Not quite as complex as I thought it would be.
Overall - 3.5
This was a good brew, but not quite as interesting as I thought it would be. It's still a solid coffee stout, though and worth a try.
