Appearance - 4.0
After a fairly aggressive pour 1 inch of head accumulates and has a decent retention. The head is white and leaves some nice sticky rings on the inside of the tulip glass. The beer is a burnt copper color.
Aroma - 3.0
I was expecting a very hoppy aroma, but it seems to be very well balanced between the sweet caramel malts and hops.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Medium to full in body with low carbonation. It's get a creamy, yet sticky feel to it.
Taste - 3.5
Despite the hops not being as apparent in the nose, there are ton of them in the taste. A boat load of spicy, earthy hops up front followed by a caramel sweetness. It finishes with even more of the hallertau hops. Has sort of a woody aftertaste to it.
Overall - 3.5
This is pretty different from your typical imperial red ale. The choice of hops give it more of a spicy flavor. This was good, but not far from my favorite of their imperial series.
