Appearance - 4.5
1 1/2 inches of dark tan head holds it's own before leaving some nice lacing. The beer is pitch black, just as the name states, an abyss.
Aroma - 4.0
Heavy roasted malts, and sweet molasses. There is also a slightly boozy, bourbon aroma.
Mouthfeel - 4.5
A full-bodied stout with a smooth, creamy feel to it. Well carbonated.
Taste - 4.0
Strong roasted malts up front followed by some molasses and dark chocolate. There's also a bit of dark fruit and then it finishes up with a roasty, dry aftertaste.
Overall - 4.5
An excellent Russian Imperial Stout. The alcohol content is well hidden, and this makes a perfect night cap.
