Appearance - 4.5
Pours 1 finger of dark tan head that has great retention and leaves a good deal of lacing. The beer is a very dark brown, practically black. Can't see through this one at all.
Aroma - 3.5
Roasted malts, chocolate and a subtle sweetness make up the nose. It smells good, but the aroma could be kicked up a few notches.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
Full in body with a thick and creamy mouthfeel.
Taste - 3.5
Similar to the nose, but with more flavor. The roasted malts hit first followed by some dark chocolate and molasses. There is a bit of bitterness followed by some fairly noticeable alcohol. The alcohol wasn't overpowering, but was detectable.
Overall - 4.0
A great imperial stout. The look and feel are right on, I'd just like a little bit more potency in the aroma. Certainly worth picking up, and I would do so again.
