Hop Rod Rye

Appearance - 5.0

Pours two fingers of off-white sticky head that has a great retention and leaves very nice lacing. The beer is a dark amber that is crystal clear.

Aroma - 4.5

Sweet caramel malts, citrusy hops and earthy hops dominate the aroma. This is definitely a hoppy brew.

Mouthfeel - 5.0

Medium-bodied with a fairly smooth feel to it and is moderately carbonated.

Taste - 4.5

The sweet caramel malts hit first followed by the rye. I haven't had too many rye beers and can't quite put my finger on the taste. Then come loads of hops, there is citrus at first then some pine. It ends with a grapefruit like finish.

Overall - 5.0

This beer is absolutely delicious. The small amount of rye malts give it a unique flavor and makes it stand out from other ipa's/imperial ipa's. Every Bear Republic beer I've had is liquid gold and this one certainly doesn't disappoint.
