Appearance - 4.0
Pours an inch of light tan head into a pint glass. It settles fairly quickly leaving a ring of lace. The beer is reddish-brown in color.
Aroma - 3.5
Lots of big malts on the nose. There's a very light chocolate paired up with some dark roasted malts. There's also some earthy hops present in the aroma. It's nice but not quite as "in your face" as I would have liked.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Medium in body with a slightly creamy fee that is cut short by the carbonation. A tad too much carbonation, I believe.
Taste - 3.5
Caramelized toffee hits the taste buds first, followed by some roasty malts. It finishes with a combination of light smokiness and earthy hops.
Overall - 3.5
Overall this is not a bad beer whatsoever, however it's the first 3 Floyd's beer that I've had that wasn't outstanding. Regardless, if this was available in my area I'd still pick it up every once and a while.
